We’re grateful for the people in our lives who could celebrate with us! We’ve been told since then that it was the best wedding anyone had been to!Īnd really, we got the best of both worlds because of covid – we were able to have the small, intimate ceremony and the larger, “traditional” wedding. Of course, there were people unable to reschedule their travel, and that was a tough pill to swallow. We felt the love and support from each and every person who was there with us. With our celebration ceremony, it was slightly smaller because of the restrictions in place, but it didn’t feel smaller. ![]() He made it a point to keep the vows traditional and of import without repeating the ceremony twice. My grandpa performed the ceremony and spoke eloquently. It was beautiful! My mom and grandma worked hard to give us a memorable wedding. We ended up getting married on our original date in an intimate ceremony with just our immediate family. Our venue called to get us on the books for a new date, and we rescheduled for January. In between Christmas and New Year’s, we found out that the county would be opening up again in January. Schaune’s entire family was traveling from out-of-state, so we were scrambling to try to get answers on “when.” It was such a huge disappointment! Here we were less than a month away from the day we’d been dreaming of, only to have the rug pulled out with no idea of when it’d be rescheduled. We found out right before Thanksgiving that it was going to be postponed because the county increased restrictions. Nicole: Our first date was in December 2020. ![]() We both knew pretty early on that we were each other’s forevers, but there is something special and emotional about the actual proposal and wedding ceremony. When he proposed he called me by my full name and I couldn’t hold it together anymore. He chose the ring without too much input from me, and without my friends or family’s help. He ran into problems getting his hands on the ring because of covid and the delays surrounding that. Nicole: Our proposal was so sweet! Schaune proposed in our living room – which was the first place we laid eyes on each other. When I saw him on my front porch I knew I was done. ![]() He responded immediately and we texted constantly for a couple of days until we met in person. I let him sweat it for about five minutes before I messaged him. Sure enough, when I saw his picture I couldn’t swipe right fast enough! I was trying not to go too fast because I had a feeling that I might come across a profile I liked. I was discouraged and in a swipe left mode. We matched the next day when I was swiping. He also says that my picture stopped him in his tracks. He appreciated my witty bio and loved that I was a huge baseball fan. Schaune swiped right first and was hoping that we’d end up matching. It definitely doesn’t sound thrilling! But we both were knocked out of our socks while swiping. Nicole: Like a lot of couples now we met on Bumble.
